Visual Artist
S F Taylor is a visual based artist, who focuses on experimental film, alongside photography and sculptural based projects. He is heavily influenced by nature, literature and mythology which are components in each of his films. His narratives take the form of old 8mm footage. Not only is this used to invoke a feeling of nostalgia and time-based narrative, this type of film has developed into a familiar style of the artist and his work.
When creating each film, it begin with the intention of capturing a moment in time and space. Whether this be the light rays piercing through the trees or the waves crashing against a pier. Slowly over time, these moments take the form of a visual based narrative which is always open to viewer interpretation. The method of his film-making at its core is impulsive and chaotic and this is translated through the finalized montaged film as well as the experimental diegetic music created by the artist.
The artist is driven by capturing the aspects of an environment and through editing and music, transforming it into a fantastical dark world. In many ways, he describes himself as a storyteller...

To share the captured, only to release it again,
And the wonder-eye; it’s to

Pause.
End at the middle. Begin here. Continue not.
Life is interrupted.
No, wait.
Take a step back.
Interruption turns interpretation.
Once upon an ending, there was a video clip of an ocean.
Now we are in a forest, way up there.
Old footage made into something new.
Me.
